Quick, hot take for you today…

Poetry should rhyme.

I won’t be dogmatic and say “always”. But usually. Often. Most of the time. Read WB Yeats and try to disagree with me. Though a free pass for Maggie Smith (not the one you’re thinking of) to do whatever she likes.

Fight me.

Everyone in This Bank Is a Thief (Benjamin Stevenson)

A bank heist turns into a locked-room murder mystery when multiple people in the building are secretly trying to steal something and one of them turns deadly.

I’ve recommended others in this series, and this new installment is a fun one. I could see this format getting repetitive, but so far I still enjoy the unique writing style, where the author points out which clues to pay attention to and why suspects are innocent or guilty as he goes. I never solve it on my own, but I also don’t try that hard.

Anne of Green Gables (1985)

A spirited orphan girl is sent to live with two siblings on Prince Edward Island, where her imagination and heart slowly transform their lives and the entire community.

I’ve been trying to track down a copy of this foreverrrr, and finally found it buried at the library. Friends, this was worth the wait. A 3-hour made-for-TV movie that stays so true to the source material? Perfection. More adaptations should study this masterpiece.

  • BookOutlet. I’m more of a library girlie, but these look like some legit deals. New titles too! 🤓

  • Baby Rash Guard. Can moms explain to me why most baby girl swimsuits are basically little bikinis? Are we not concerned about sun protection? I was glad to find this option, but wonder if I’m missing something. 👙

  • Crossing. We’ve had this game for many years and still pull it out often for the kids or guests. The instructions amount to “point to the pile of gems you want” and play time only takes about 10 minutes. 💎

  • Nukemap. Another site that makes me think, “Does this increase or decrease my anxiety? 💥
