Icebreakers, Choose Your Own Adventure Mystery, Ice Cub trays, etc...

Sad news: AI has come for our recipes. My usual method of recipe research is pretty simple: look at the photo, skim the ingredients, and go for it. But recently that led me to a pasta dish that was extremely disappointing…. I should have noticed the photo had tomatoes and peppers that never appeared in the instructions. Then I found a swirled cookie that looked delicious, only to discover the AI-written steps wanted me to mix cocoa powder straight into the flour to make the swirl. (That’s not how it works, that’s just chocolate dough.) Sigh. I think it’s time to stick to trusted sites before I waste any more butter on this nonsense.

Derry Girls

I think this is a top 5 show for me, and total a comfort watch. Set in 1990s Northern Ireland, it follows a group of friends through high school, family drama, and political unrest. The characters feel like actual teenagers who are awkward, loud, and ridiculous. Watch just the first episode to see how laugh-out-loud funny it is.

Can You Solve the Murder? by Antony Johnston

Remember the choose-your-own-adventure books from childhood? This is exactly that except it’s not random choices. You choose which suspects to interview, which locations to investigate, and which clues to pursue. The book was not perfect but it was incredibly fun. I loved using a separate notebook to keep track of details and decrypt codes. And, not to brag, but I did reach Master Sleuth level at the end.

  • Pinterest. I saw a description of Pinterest as “media without the social” and that is often exactly what I want. It feels less stimulating, messy, and addicting than other tools which is a total win. 📌

  • Belly Comfort. Man oh man ginger is a miracle food for tummy issues. The lemon with these is a nice combination, my only complaint is you’re not supposed to eat more than 1-2 a day. 🫚

  • Navan. I have some clients who use this tool for travel management and some who don’t and the time savings is incredible. It saves preferences, manages credits/refunds, and syncs with calendars. 🚕

  • Mini Ice Cube Trays. Why is small chunky ice better? I don’t know, but it is. My sister requested these for her birthday and then I copied her.
