Butterfly in the sky, I can go twice as high.
Books, books, and oh! More books...
Though I can’t quite wrap my brain around it quite yet… Welcome to 2025!
One of my 2024 highlights was working on this newsletter. It’s been a blast, which was pretty much my whole goal! To make sure the fun stays sustainable moving forward, I’m going to slow things down to an every-other-week cadence, with some special editions sprinkled in.
So here’s the first of them! A year in review: books edition. I consumed over 38,000 pages and more than 100 books in 2024, and here are my favorites. I hope it either reminds you of the gems you also read, or gives you some titles to add to your TBR.
Series
They’re a time commitment, but you won’t be disappointed.
Romance
Thank goodness that as a society we’re no longer shameful of our love of this incredible genre.
(Fair warning that there are open door scenes to skip in these books if that’s not your thing.)
Quick Hits
Great reads, but I can’t wax poetic about everything.
Romance Honorable Mentions: Funny Story (Emily Henry), Just For The Summer (Abby Jimenez), and Four Weekends and a Funeral (Ellie Palmer)
Historical Fiction: The Frozen River (Ariel Lawhon)
Non-Fiction: The Anxious Generation (Jonathan Haidt), Suffering is Never For Nothing (Elisabeth Elliot), Therefore I Have Hope (Cameron Cole)
Mystery: The Devil and the Dark Water (Stuart Turton), and Everyone This Christmas Has A Secret (Benjamin Stevenson)
A Sad Story
These reads were a little bit melancholy, but oh so beautiful.
Weird, But I Love It
When you read so many books, it’s the totally weird ones that stick in your brain.
And my favorite book of 2024…
What were your favorite reads of the year?
